• Booking your session: It is recommended that you schedule your newborns session prior to giving birth, This assures you a spot in our calendar. It's ideal to book during your second trimester!
  • the birthday matters: it's very important that your newborn be within 14 days old. The best time is between 3-7 days of life. Why? This allows us to handle them in a manor that wont disrupt their mood. When they are sleepy and I mean really sleepy...we can scrunch and bend those babies to get the perfect pose. The older they get, the more alert they are. newborn colic and acne are more prone to appear after 14 days.
  • where: we mostly like to shoot in our studio. in some circumstances, if its warm enough and weather permits, we could do outdoor sessions. we also are able to travel to your home upon request at an extra cost. if we do an in home shoot, here are some reminders.
    •  let that natural light shine. don't be afraid to toss open those blind and curtains. Make way for the sunshine.
    • heat? crack it up 30 minutes prior to your session. Babies pose better when warm. Who wants to be naked and cold?
    • drying blankets and wraps in between uses is a great idea for assuring baby stays warm,
    • loosen up: please loosen the babies diapers and clothes 30 minutes prior to your session to give time for any imprint marks to go away. your baby will be naked most of the time but we assure you that "important parts" are not displayed,
  • being patient: newborn sessions can some times run late. ranging anywhere from 1-4 hours. it is important that you understand this because we want you to have the best images we can get. babies can pick up frustration in the room, be ready to relax. it's also fine if babies are wide awake during their shoots. however it may take longer to get the images we want.
  • distraction: please keep speaking volume at a low. We like the environment to be peaceful.
    • if you have other children that will not be in the newborn session, it may be a good idea to find a sitter.
    • if your other children are going to be in the session we recommend you bring them at the beginning or end of the session.
    • keep your other kids distracted
  • sleep: we like when babies are in a deep sleep. It's important. To help assure us that the will sleep, do what you can to keep the baby wake before your session. like i said, babies that are awake are great but it may take longer and we may not be able to achieve certain poses.
  • milk drunk: please make sure you feed and burp right before your session to help the sleeping process.
  • it's okay: please relax when it comes to us handling your newborn. we are experts on all things baby! we know just how to move, hold and relax babies. leave your worries at the door. we are very gentle and nothing we do will hurt the baby.
  • potty: babies poop and pee...a lot. don't worry about it. we get this all the time. all of our props and blankets are washed after each and every session. it's bound to happen. however, it may be a good idea to have towels on hand!
  • props and ideas: we have many props here in the studio. if your session isn't in the studio, please tell us what you would like or if you have any ideas so we can make sure to bring proper equipment. make sure you let us know what you have in mind,
  • instinct: if your child is cluster feeding or is very much attached to you, we may have you step out of the room to assure that there will be no fits because the baby smells mom but can't have mom.
  • yikes: if there is a point in the session where you are not okay with something, please let us know. we want to make sure you are happy and stress free.
  • grooming: make sure your finger nails and toenails are groomed. we love those precious feet shots and hand shots with you and your baby.
  • bed time: not really. If you are wanting a cozy bed photo at your house. make sure:
    • your bed is made
    • a solid blanket or comforter is on it
    • light bedding is the best
